Day 8 & 9 - Grand Teton & Yellowstone

Well, the weather was great this morning leaving Grand Teton but it rained when we hit Yellowstone.  We did get to see Old Faithful erupt but several roads were under construction and we did not get to see any other areas.  We did see many bison and elk.  I ate elk night before last; not bad.  I crossed over the border into Montana this evening thus completing my mission to visit all 50 states.  Tomorrow we are off to Glacier NP.

  1. Congrats on hitting #50! And before you were 40... looks like you beat everyone. I read that Puerto Rico, Samoa and Guam are being inducted as states later this year though, so your "all the states" thing isn't going to last long. Time to buy a new flag, too. They're not adding any more stars, just 3 brown splotches on the first white stripe will symbolize the new "states".

  2. I can not find anything on the web about statehood for the 3 commonwealths; you are just pulling my chain.

  3. The 2009 District of Columbia and U.S Territories Quarters Program banner with the following flags: D.C, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands.
Click on highlighted areas for more information.

In 2009, the United States Mint will mint and issue six quarter-dollar coins in honor of the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories: the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. These coins will be issued in equal sequential intervals in 2009 in the order listed.

I'm game for the territories trip.

  4. I did manage to collect all those quarters but have heard nothing of statehood for any of the territories.

I also would like to visit the territories.
